Digital Communications Specialist job description
Big Blue Communications seeks a Digital Communications Specialist with incredibly strong writing skills to join our expanding global team. Together, we will create powerful content for development projects worldwide.
We are looking for people who care about human development, and who are committed to supporting the development sector. Candidates must have strong, relevant experience in journalism, digital marketing, international development communications, or advertising.
Attention to detail is paramount, and writing with passion and clarity is a must. You will deliver social media content, case studies, human interest stories, and media articles. You will also conduct interviews to gather content for compelling stories that are heard online by audiences around the world.
You will need to complete a writing test and submit examples of your work to be considered for this role.

Write and publish: social media content, case studies, human interest stories, newspaper articles, film scripts, slide presentations, event materials, reports, briefs, factsheets, and e-newsletters
Lead interviews to translate experiences into stories or take a reader on a journey
Create relationships with print media and online media outlets to increase awareness of our digital stories
Turn complex research and data into clear, compelling stories
Publish content to platforms such as WordPress, Squarespace, LinkedIn, Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, and Instagram
Track online performance of content using digital media analytics
Copy-edit content written by other team members
Create event materials for partners and assist in staging of events
Other creative duties as needed
Required skills and experiences
Bachelor’s degree in communications, development studies, English literature, public relations, advertising, marketing, or journalism
3+ years of experience in a relevant field
Demonstrated experience in producing digital content for multiple audiences
Demonstrated experience publishing website content on a CMS such as WordPress/Squarespace for client projects (links to previous work required)
Must be self-motivated and be able to work remotely, independently, but with a collaborative team spirit
Be productive and have an eye for detail while striving for perfection
Must be able to produce several pieces of content weekly
Must be able to meet regular publishing deadlines

Initial 12-month contract with a performance review after 3 months
40-hour working week, with an average of 8 hours per day
Salary is commensurate with experience
